Anirudh Ravichander Faces Criticism for Singing His Compositions: Denying Opportunities to Other Singers?

Anirudh Ravichander, a highly acclaimed music director in Tamil cinema, has faced recent criticism for frequently lending his voice to his compositions, potentially limiting opportunities for other talented singers. This critique gained momentum after the release of the song ‘Anbenum’ from the film ‘Leo,’ where Anirudh sang alongside Lothika, sidelining other singers. Fans and critics alike have expressed concerns on social media, accusing him of overshadowing other artists.

Despite Anirudh’s self-professed lack of interest in singing and his admission of being a mediocre singer, he continues to feature prominently in his compositions. His recent interviews reveal his evolving acceptance of his singing abilities, even though he acknowledges his initial reluctance to embrace this aspect of his talent. He has sung multiple songs in his recent films, including ‘Jailer,’ where he shared vocals with Shilpa Rao for the popular track ‘Kavala.’

Interestingly, Anirudh has stated his preference for valuing experience over monetary gains in singing for other composers. However, there is a lack of clarity regarding his payment structure for singing, even as reports suggest he commands a significant fee as a music director, surpassing industry stalwarts like AR Rahman.
