Lavalin Case Returns to Supreme Court for 30th Hearing

The Lavalin case is set to be heard in the Supreme Court for the 30th time today. The bench, consisting of justices Suryakant, Dipankar Dutta, and Ujjal Bhuyan, will preside over the proceedings. Originally slated for consideration on October 10, the case was deferred due to prolonged arguments in other matters.

At the heart of this appeal is the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) challenge against the High Court’s acquittal of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, former Energy Secretary K Mohanachandran, and former Joint Secretary A Francis. These prominent figures have faced accusations relating to the Lavalin case, a complex legal matter that has been under scrutiny since 2017.

Furthermore, former Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) officials R Sivadas, Kasthuriranga Iyer, and KG Rajasekaran have petitioned for their removal from the list of accused individuals, adding another layer of complexity to the case.

The Lavalin case has become a focal point of legal discussions and debate, and its journey through the Indian judicial system has been marked by numerous twists and turns. As the case resumes in the Supreme Court, legal experts and the public alike await the outcome of this enduring legal battle.
