Akhilesh Yadav Suggests India Would Have Won World Cup if Played in Lucknow

Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party, expressed his belief that India would have emerged victorious against Australia in the ICC World Cup final if the match had been held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, instead of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Yadav stated that the team, led by Rohit Sharma, would have received blessings from Lord Vishnu and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, potentially securing the title.

During the World Cup final, India faced Australia in Ahmedabad, where Australia comfortably overcame India’s challenge, securing their sixth world title. Despite India scoring 240 runs in 50 overs, Travis Head’s outstanding century led Australia to victory in the 43rd over.

Yadav’s comments come ahead of the upcoming five-match T20 series between India and Australia, starting in Visakhapatnam. The second match of the series is scheduled for Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, November 26, with Suryakumar Yadav leading the Indian team against Matthew Wade’s Australian squad. Despite rumors, Malayali player Sanju Samson did not secure a place in the squad.
