Pope Francis Undergoing Treatment for Lung Inflammation, Adjusts Schedule

Pope Francis is currently undergoing treatment for lung inflammation and is receiving intravenous antibiotics, according to the Vatican. Although he does not have pneumonia or a fever, the inflammation has led to respiratory difficulties. As a result, the Pope has scaled back some of his commitments, postponing certain important appointments to dedicate time and energy to his recovery. However, he is maintaining some institutional commitments, and his upcoming three-day trip to the United Arab Emirates, scheduled to begin on December 1, remains on the agenda, where he is expected to address climate change at the United Nations COP28 climate talks.

The Vatican’s press office director, Matteo Bruni, stated that the Pope’s condition is stable, and he is showing clear improvement in his respiratory situation. A CT scan conducted on Saturday ruled out pneumonia. The Pope’s dedication to his recovery is evident as he receives necessary medical care, and updates on his health will likely influence any further adjustments to his schedule.
