A toddler fatally shoots his mother as she is on work call, according to Florida police

Altamonte Springs: A child discovered an unsecured, loaded handgun inside an apartment and fatally shot a woman who was on a work-related video chat, according to authorities in central Florida. The woman, according to news reports, was the mother of the child who shot her in the head on Wednesday (August 11).

Altamonte Springs police stated in a news release Thursday that someone on the video call contacted 911 after seeing the toddler in the background and hearing a noise (August 12). According to the source, the woman, Shamaya Lynn, 21, fell backward and never returned to the video call.

Officers and paramedics did their best to help Mrs. Lynn, but she was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, according to authorities.

According to authorities, an adult in the apartment left the firearm unattended. Investigators were collaborating with the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office to decide whether or not charges will be brought.
