Abu Dhabi Police Issues Warning: Rs 11,000 Penalty for Leaving Engine On While Shopping

Abu Dhabi Police has issued a stern warning to drivers, including expatriates, emphasizing strict action against those leaving their vehicles with the engine turned on while shopping or refueling. The move aims to address the prevalent issue of vehicles left unattended with the engine running, posing potential risks such as theft.

In a recent announcement, Abu Dhabi Police stated that individuals found leaving their vehicles in such a state could face fines of up to 500 dirhams (Rs 11,000). The authorities express concerns over the practice, indicating the possibility of unscrupulous individuals taking advantage of the situation to commit theft.

Leaving vehicles unattended with the engine on is a common occurrence, especially when drivers go to supermarkets or ATMs. The fines are intended to serve as a deterrent against such behavior, promoting road safety and preventing potential criminal activities.

The Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrols has further emphasized that additional actions will be taken against drivers engaging in this practice. The move aligns with the UAE’s commitment to enforcing road traffic laws and ensuring the safety of all road users. Authorities continue to raise awareness about traffic guidelines to reduce violations and enhance overall road safety.
