Fever Outbreak Sparks Fear in Kerala as 11 Deaths Reported in a Single Day

The spread of fever and rising number of casualties across Kerala have sparked fear and anxiety among the residents. On Friday alone, the state recorded 11 deaths attributed to fever, with the total number of affected individuals reaching 12,204. Out of these, 438 people have sought medical assistance for symptoms of dengue fever. Despite the health department’s precautionary measures, the situation remains a significant concern. Among the deceased was Ajeesh of Kollam, a teacher at Manavendra Higher Secondary School in Nilambur, who succumbed to jaundice after being admitted to the hospital ten days prior.

The fever outbreak is particularly alarming in Nilambur and its surrounding areas, including Vallikkunnu, Pothukallu, and Edakkara. Additionally, Thiruvananthapuram reported four new cholera cases, bringing the total to 11. These cases involve inmates of a private institution, where 26-year-old Anu died of cholera last week. The health department continues to monitor the situation closely and urges the public to take necessary precautions to prevent further spread of these illnesses.
