Iran Allegedly Plots Assassination Attempt on Former President Trump as Retaliation for Soleimani’s Killing

A recent report claims that Iran is behind an assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump. Intelligence agencies received information about an Iranian conspiracy to assassinate Trump a few weeks ago, leading to increased security for the former president.

The report suggests that Iran’s plot was in retaliation for the killing of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani in a 2020 drone strike. Iran had previously implied that Trump was responsible for Soleimani’s death and had promised retaliation. Despite warnings from intelligence officials to avoid campaign rallies and speeches in open spaces after becoming a presidential candidate, Trump proceeded with his rallies.

While authorities have stated that Trump’s security was heightened following the threat, several media outlets have criticized the security measures at a rally in Pennsylvania. Questions arose about how a young man with a gun managed to climb onto a building adjacent to the rally venue despite the heavy security presence. In response, President Joe Biden has ordered an investigation into how the 20-year-old was able to reach the building’s rooftop near the rally venue while armed.
