Apple is anticipated to unveil its iPhone 16 series later this year, which is expected to include significant updates for its Pro models. According to recent social media reports from China, specifically a Weibo post by user Instant Digital, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to receive notable improvements in battery capacity.
For the iPhone 16 Pro, the battery is projected to be upgraded to 3,577mAh, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max may feature a larger 4,676mAh battery. If these claims are accurate, this would represent a 9% increase in battery capacity for the iPhone 16 Pro and a 5% increase for the Pro Max, compared to their predecessors, the iPhone 15 Pro (3,274mAh) and iPhone 15 Pro Max (4,441mAh). However, it remains to be seen whether these enhancements will translate into better real-world battery performance.
In addition to increased battery sizes, the iPhone 16 Pro models are also expected to support faster charging speeds. Currently, the iPhone 15 lineup supports a maximum charging speed of 20W, enabling a 50% charge in about 30 minutes with a compatible 20W or higher power adapter. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to support up to 40W of wired fast charging, which could significantly reduce charging times. Moreover, MagSafe charging may see an upgrade from 15W to 20W, further enhancing the convenience of wireless charging.
These anticipated updates highlight Apple’s ongoing efforts to improve battery performance and charging efficiency in its flagship smartphones.
