Today marks the 78th Independence Day of India, a momentous occasion commemorated with vibrant celebrations across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the historic Red Fort in Delhi and addressed the nation, underscoring the theme for this year’s celebrations: Vikasita Bharat @ 2047.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to the freedom fighters and acknowledged the significant contributions of farmers and soldiers in nation-building. He reaffirmed the commitment to achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047, emphasizing the need for collective effort and the reflection of every citizen’s dreams in this vision. Modi also honored those who lost their lives in natural calamities, expressing solidarity with them and their families.
This year’s Independence Day celebrations saw the participation of around 6,000 special guests, including youth, students, tribals, and farmers. Notable attendees included athletes from the Indian contingent who represented the country at the recent Paris Olympics. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh welcomed the Prime Minister at the Red Fort, where a grand ceremony took place. The event featured performances by 2,000 artists from various states, adding to the festivities.
Security was heightened in Delhi, particularly in light of recent terror threats in Jammu and Punjab. Enhanced measures were put in place to ensure the safety of VIPs, major buildings, and public areas.
