Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT (Greatest of All Time) is one of the most highly anticipated films of 2024! With just a few hours to go before its release, this Tamil blockbuster is already creating waves among fans. From record-breaking advance bookings to early morning shows, GOAT is poised to become one of the highest-grossing films of the year. Curious to know more? Here’s everything you need to know about this cinematic phenomenon.
A Landmark in Vijay’s Career
GOAT marks Vijay’s second-to-last film before he fully ventures into politics with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. The film’s director, Venkat Prabhu, shared that while fans hope Vijay might continue acting, the actor’s focus is shifting toward his political aspirations. “Just like everyone here, and scores of Vijay fans, I too want to see him continue acting. In fact, I asked him if he would balance both. He just smiled and said, ‘We’ll see.’ It will always be our dream to see him on screen. But he has a dream too; an aspiration. And I think we should support it,” Prabhu mentioned in a recent interview.
The Plot: A Thrilling Mission
Produced by Archana Kalpathi, GOAT tells the gripping story of a RAW agent, played by Vijay, who finds himself entangled in a mission that spirals into a year-long assignment. The plot thickens as a mission gone wrong years ago resurfaces, and the agent must confront past demons to resolve the issue. This high-octane action thriller promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Cutting-Edge Visual Effects
GOAT has pushed the boundaries of visual effects in Tamil cinema. The film uses state-of-the-art de-aging technology to portray Vijay as a 23-year-old, alongside his current self. The VFX was crafted by Lola Visual Effects, the same team behind the visual effects in Hollywood blockbusters like Avatar, Captain Marvel, and Avengers: Endgame. This groundbreaking technology adds a fresh layer of excitement, with Vijay expected to appear in dual roles, one young and the other older.
Surprise Cameos and AI-Driven Appearances
Adding to the excitement, GOAT is rumored to feature surprise cameos by popular actors Trisha and Sivakarthikeyan, though their roles remain under wraps. In a unique twist, the film also brings back the late actor Vijayakanth using AI technology. The production team had initially planned to film with Vijayakanth before his passing, but with permission from his family, they’ve used AI to incorporate his likeness into the film, creating an emotional connection for longtime fans.
With its stellar cast, innovative technology, and a storyline packed with thrills, GOAT is not just a movie; it’s an event. As the film hits theaters worldwide on September 5, 2024, fans are gearing up for what could be one of the biggest cinematic experiences of the year.
