As the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024 approach, political tensions are rising, with campaigns heating up ahead of the October 5 vote. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recently intensified his criticism of former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and the Congress government during a public rally. Speaking at the “Mhara Haryana-Non Stop Haryana Jan Ashirwad Rally” in the Kalayat Assembly constituency, Saini launched a direct attack on the Congress’s ten-year rule, calling it a “period of terror” that stunted Haryana’s progress.
Saini accused the Congress of obstructing government recruitment processes, forming what he referred to as a “recruitment stop gang” by appealing to the Election Commission and High Court to halt hiring initiatives. He contrasted this with the BJP’s success, claiming that his government, through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN), secured jobs for 1.2 lakh youths. Saini highlighted the Congress’s efforts to block these initiatives whenever the BJP initiated recruitment drives.
The CM also criticized the Congress’s handling of farmers’ issues, accusing them of neglecting agricultural needs. He claimed that during Congress’s rule, farmers were given as little as Rs 2 as crop compensation, whereas the BJP has distributed Rs 13,000 crore in compensation over the past decade, compared to the Congress’s Rs 1,100 crore.
Further attacking the Congress, Saini alleged that their governance promoted casteism, nepotism, and corruption, which led to their 2014 election defeat. He emphasized that these issues caused the people of Haryana to reject the Hooda-led administration and turn to the BJP for leadership.
With election day fast approaching, the rivalry between the BJP and Congress is expected to intensify as both parties continue their aggressive campaigns.
