Texas: Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in India’s Lok Sabha, shared insightful perspectives on transparency and politics while speaking to students at the University of Texas during his ongoing US visit. In a thought-provoking discussion, Gandhi delved into the true meaning of ‘Devta’ in Indian culture, challenging common perceptions.
“In India, a Devta doesn’t mean God, as is often believed,” Rahul Gandhi explained. “A Devta refers to someone whose internal feelings align perfectly with their outward expressions—someone who is completely transparent. When a person openly expresses everything they believe or think, that is the true essence of a Devta.”
Gandhi’s explanation resonated with the theme of transparency in politics. He emphasized the importance of aligning one’s inner thoughts with their public actions, a principle he believes is crucial in both personal and political life.
