Malavika Mohanan Highlights Diversity of Roles in Thangalaan and Yudhra

The actress shares insights into her contrasting characters, Aarathi and Nikhat, emphasizing the freedom of exploring varied roles in her career

Malavika Mohanan, who stars alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi in the action-packed film Yudhra, recently discussed the contrasting roles she plays in Thangalaan and Yudhra. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, Yudhra was released on September 20.

Reflecting on her experiences, Mohanan noted, “Both characters come from entirely different backgrounds, and the preparation for each role varies significantly. In Thangalaan, there were numerous action scenes, necessitating extensive physical training and stunt work. Conversely, for Nikhat in Yudhra, I learned to play the piano. While she’s a tough character when needed, she embodies a softer side. I appreciate being versatile and not confined to a single type of role.”

She also mentioned that despite their differences, she finds similarities between Aarathi and Nikhat, connecting with both characters on a personal level. In Thangalaan, Malavika plays Aarathi, a goddess figure inspired by a deity known to protect the Kolar Gold Fields, alongside lead actor Chiyaan Vikram and supporting actress Parvathy Thiruvothu. The film was released in multiple languages, including Hindi, last month.

In contrast, Yudhra features her as Nikhat, a complex woman who balances softness with fierceness, aiding Chaturvedi’s character in managing his anger. The film also stars Raghav Juyal and is produced by Excel Entertainment.

Looking ahead, Malavika Mohanan is set to appear in The Raja Saab alongside Prabhas.
