Kulgam: A tense encounter is underway between security forces and terrorists in the Adigam Devsar area of Kulgam district, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation began early on Saturday morning, according to an official update from the Kashmir Zone Police. In a statement shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the police confirmed, “An encounter has started at Adigam Devsar area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
The situation remains fluid as security personnel work to neutralize the militants, and further details regarding casualties or the number of militants involved are yet to be disclosed. This incident highlights the persistent security challenges in the region as authorities intensify anti-terrorism operations in response to insurgent activities. The Kulgam district has been a frequent hotspot for such confrontations in the past, with terrorists using the terrain and local support networks to carry out attacks.
This encounter comes shortly after another similar operation on September 22, when security forces engaged with terrorists in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district. That encounter, too, involved heavy gunfire as the forces attempted to root out militants from the region.
Such encounters are part of a larger, ongoing effort by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to counter terrorism and maintain peace in the region. The government continues to enhance its counterinsurgency measures, with frequent operations being conducted across various districts. This latest encounter reflects the ongoing tension and the challenges faced by security forces as they work to dismantle terrorist networks. More updates from the Adigam Devsar encounter are awaited as the operation progresses.
