In a tragic incident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, two Village Defence Guards (VDGs), Nazir Ahmad and Kuldeep Kumar, were reportedly abducted and executed by terrorists while tending to their cattle in the Munzla Dhar forest area. The victims, residents of Ohli-Kuntwara village, were missing after leaving for the forest, sparking a massive search operation led by police and the Indian Army in the dense woods. Tragically, the terrorists used the victims’ phones to share images of the killings, revealing their execution with their eyes blindfolded.
The group claiming responsibility for the brutal act, Kashmir Tigers, an affiliate of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad, posted images of the bodies to publicize the atrocity. This shocking incident has drawn widespread condemnation from political leaders and officials, including Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who vowed to eliminate all terrorist groups and described the attack as a “heinous” assault on peace and security. Sinha expressed deep sympathy for the victims’ families, calling the men “brave sons” of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah also condemned the attack, emphasizing that such violent acts seriously hinder efforts to establish peace in the region. Other political figures, such as BJP leader Kavinder Gupta, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti, and Congress leader Ravinder Sharma, joined in condemning the attack, asserting solidarity with the affected families.
In recent months, Kishtwar and surrounding districts in the Jammu region, including Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, and Kathua, have experienced a rise in terror activities. Security agencies attribute this surge to cross-border efforts aimed at reigniting militancy in otherwise stable areas, posing significant challenges to peace and safety in Jammu and Kashmir.
