Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal has officially announced that he will not return to hold any leadership position within AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists). This decision comes as the organization’s general body meeting and elections are set for June. Previously, there had been discussions, led by former vice president Jayan Cherthala and actor Suresh Gopi, regarding the possible reinstatement of the previous executive committee, sparking speculation about the actor’s return to leadership.
The current discourse surrounding AMMA intensified after the release of the Hema Committee report, which brought certain internal issues to light. Mohanlal shared that this report has provided a platform for open dialogue among members. He further remarked that AMMA was unfairly singled out, reminding the public that the organization represents a collective body of actors, not isolated interests. According to Mohanlal, any allegations or proven instances of wrongdoing should be addressed legally, with individuals held accountable for their actions.
Additionally, the actor expressed a desire for this moment to spark a meaningful movement in Kerala, one that can address real issues without causing divisions or disruptions within the Malayalam film industry, which is a source of livelihood for many. He urged stakeholders to focus on unity and growth, keeping controversies from overshadowing the industry’s collective progress and achievements.
