Los Angeles: A tragic shooting at Feather River School of Seventh-Day Adventists in Palermo, Northern California, left two students injured while the suspected gunman was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident, which occurred around 1 p.m. local time, sent shockwaves through the small community.
The Butte County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple 911 calls reporting an adult male opening fire on students at the K-8 school. Upon arrival, authorities located the shooter, who had already taken his own life. Emergency services quickly secured the area and began coordinating with other agencies to ensure student safety.
Two students sustained gunshot wounds during the attack. One was airlifted to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care, while the other received immediate assistance at the scene. Parents were instructed to reunite with their children at a nearby church that served as a temporary shelter for the students.
Feather River School, operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, serves more than 30 students and is a cornerstone of Palermo, a small town approximately 104 kilometers north of Sacramento.
