Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to revolutionize the hybrid vehicle segment in India by introducing an affordable hybrid system tailored for its compact car lineup. The first model expected to feature this innovative system is the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
Recently, a test mule of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx bearing a distinct “Hybrid” badge was spotted in Gurugram, sparking excitement about the potential rollout of this budget-friendly hybrid option. Unlike the Toyota-sourced hybrid technology found in the Grand Vitara, the Fronx hybrid is believed to utilize an in-house system designed specifically for compact cars.
The test vehicle exhibited no noticeable changes apart from the hybrid badge on its tailgate, suggesting that the car retains its existing design language. Interestingly, there was no camouflage or visible testing apparatus on the vehicle, indicating that the development process is nearing completion.
Speculations suggest that the Fronx hybrid might make its debut in India alongside the car’s facelift, which could happen either towards the end of this year or early next year. Although Maruti Suzuki has yet to confirm details about the hybrid system, it is rumored to be a series hybrid, where the engine acts primarily as a generator to charge the onboard batteries.
With the introduction of this hybrid system, Maruti Suzuki aims to make hybrid technology accessible to a broader audience, reinforcing its position as a leader in India’s automotive market.
