Infosys has updated its hybrid work policy, mandating employees at Job Level 5 (JL5) and below to work from the office for at least 10 days per month starting March 10, 2025. The company will implement system interventions to limit work-from-home (WFH) requests and ensure compliance with the new rule.
In an internal email, Infosys stated that the measures aim to balance flexibility with the requirement for in-office presence. Employees must use a mobile app to record attendance, which will no longer approve WFH requests by default. Those failing to meet the 10-day office requirement may see the shortfall deducted from their leave balance.
The policy applies to roles such as software engineers, senior engineers, system engineers, and consultants. Employees at JL6 and above, including managers and senior managers, are exempt.
Infosys initially introduced a return-to-office policy in November 2023, designating specific weeks for in-person collaboration. This move aligns with industry trends, as competitor TCS has already tied its five-day office mandate to employee variable pay. Infosys has not publicly commented on the latest policy update. The shift reflects a broader industry trend as companies increasingly prioritize in-office collaboration and productivity. While the move may face mixed reactions from employees accustomed to remote work, Infosys aims to strike a balance between flexibility and the need for physical presence to foster teamwork and innovation. As the policy takes effect, its impact on employee satisfaction and operational efficiency will be closely watched.
