Fifteen days after the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India has launched a strong retaliatory operation named Operation Sindoor. This meticulously coordinated mission involved the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy, targeting nine identified terror camps located inside Pakistan. According to the Indian Ministry of Defence, the strike resulted in the death of 17 terrorists and left 80 others injured.
The operation began at precisely 1:44 AM, utilizing Rafale fighter jets, drones, and precision-guided missiles. Among the key targets were Lashkar-e-Taiba camps in Muridke and Hizbul Mujahideen bases in Mehmood. There was also a reported strike on the hideout of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar. The Indian military stated that these strikes were aimed at delivering justice and dismantling the infrastructure that fuels cross-border terrorism.
Pakistan has confirmed attacks in six regions of the country, while international airlines like Qatar Airways suspended flights to Pakistan. Indian carriers, including Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet, also reported disruptions. Airports in Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, and Dharamshala were temporarily shut down as a precaution.
The United Nations and the United States have called for restraint and urged both countries to avoid further escalation. A full briefing on Operation Sindoor is expected from the Indian military at 10 AM today.
