Apple is gearing up to launch its first foldable iPhone, with mass production expected to begin in early 2026 before an autumn release. According to the national media that the handset will adopt a book-like folding mechanism, resembling Samsung’s foldable lineup. Once unfolded, it is likely to function as a compact tablet. The device is also rumoured to carry four cameras — a front-facing lens, an internal sensor, and a dual-camera array on the rear.
Apple is reportedly experimenting with black and white finishes for its upcoming foldable iPhone. The device is said to adopt a book-style form factor, opening to reveal a large inner display. According to the rumours a 5.5-inch cover screen will be paired with a 7.8-inch foldable panel inside. For comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold7 offers an 8-inch inner display paired with a 6.5-inch external screen.
Both Apple’s foldable iPhone and Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 are expected to debut with inner displays designed to eliminate the visible crease. For Apple, this is reportedly made possible through a laser-perforated metal support plate that helps distribute the strain caused by repeated folding.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to launch as a premium device, with pricing projected to be close to $2,000 — nearly Rs 1.72 lakh in India. Earlier reports had suggested an even higher entry cost of about $2,300, translating to roughly Rs 1.99 lakh for Indian consumers.
