The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA–NY–NJ–CT–NE) proudly presented the 42nd edition of its flagship cultural event, Dance Pe Chance (DPC), on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Patriots Theatre at the War Memorial in Trenton, New Jersey. Braving subzero wind chills, the sold-out event marked a powerful celebration of India’s 77th Republic Day and the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, reaffirming DPC’s reputation as one of the largest and most prestigious Indian American dance competitions in the United States.
The evening welcomed more than 2,200 attendees, including dignitaries, community leaders, and cultural enthusiasts, who witnessed a spectacular display of rhythm, creativity, and storytelling inspired by Indian classical, folk, Bollywood, and contemporary dance forms.
The program opened with the national anthems, followed by remarks highlighting FIA’s mission and achievements. DPC Chair Ms. Priti Ray-Patel reflected on the four-decade legacy of Dance Pe Chance, while FIA President Mr. Sreekanth Akkapalli outlined key milestones of the year and underscored the indispensable role of volunteers. FIA Chairman Mr. Ankur Vaidya spoke about FIA’s continued growth as a unifying force for the Indian diaspora.
A special highlight of the evening was the Oath Ceremony for FIA’s 2026 Executive Committee, administered by the Honorable Consul General of India, Ambassador Binaya S. Pradhan. In his address, Ambassador Pradhan praised FIA for continually elevating the scale and impact of Dance Pe Chance and shared insights into expanded consular services aimed at meeting the evolving needs of the Indian diaspora.
The event was further honored by the presence of Honorable Deputy Consul General of India (New York), Mr. Vishal J. Harsh, who acknowledged FIA’s steadfast commitment to cultural preservation and community engagement.
The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising legendary actress Padmini Kolhapure, renowned choreographer Supriya Doshi, and acclaimed classical dance exponent Antima Chakraborty. Their expert feedback inspired participants to push creative and artistic boundaries.
The evening was seamlessly hosted by emcees Ms. Mamta Narula and Ms. Srishti Narula, who kept the audience energized throughout the program.
This year’s edition featured nearly 870 performers from 18 premier dance academies, presenting 31 captivating performances across Minor, Junior, Senior, and Adult categories. The performances showcased a compelling fusion of tradition and modernity, reflecting India’s rich cultural heritage while embracing contemporary expression.
Broadway-style production elements—including a massive LED backdrop, immersive lighting, and elaborate costumes—enhanced the storytelling and transformed the stage into a visually stunning experience.
During the grand finale, over 100 dedicated volunteers were recognized for their tireless efforts, followed by the much-anticipated awards ceremony honoring excellence in categories such as Best Choreography, Thematic Innovation, and Outstanding Spirit.
As the curtains closed, FIA leadership reaffirmed that Dance Pe Chance continues to serve as a bridge between generations, fostering cultural pride, youth leadership, and artistic excellence within the Indian American community. Planning is already underway for the 43rd edition in 2027, promising an even grander celebration.
