Thiruvananthapuram/Kochi: As tensions escalate between India and Pakistan, Kerala has ramped up its security measures, especially at key transportation and strategic infrastructure points. Airports and railway stations across the state are now under increased surveillance, and additional security personnel have been deployed to ensure safety and readiness.
As part of a nationwide high alert, security has been tightened at crucial locations including the Vizhinjam international seaport, airports, and all military installations—land, air, and naval—within the state. In Kochi, surveillance has been intensified in coastal waters, on land, and in the air. Naval facilities such as the Kochi Naval Base, INS Dronacharya, INS Garuda, the naval air station, and INHS Sanjivani have seen a significant boost in security deployments.
The Indian Navy’s presence has been scaled up both at sea and in port areas in Kochi. Security personnel have also been reinforced at sensitive infrastructure sites such as the Cochin International Airport, the port, oil refineries, LNG terminals, shipyards, and the container terminal.
Even the state’s critical dam infrastructure, including the Idukki dam, continues to receive its standard level of protection. While there is currently no military deployment specific to Kerala, defense sources clarify that the elevated state of alertness is part of standard conflict preparedness during such high-tension periods.
