A brutal revenge attack unfolded in Kollam on Monday, claiming the life of 22-year-old Febin George Gomez, a second-year BCA student at Fatima Mata College. The shocking incident took place at Febin’s home, where he was fatally stabbed in the chest. His father, Gomez, sustained minor injuries while trying to fend off the attacker. The accused, Thejus Raj from Neendakara, was later found dead on a railway track near Kadapppakada. Authorities believe that Thejus, driven by personal vengeance, carried out the murder before taking his own life. The tragedy reportedly stemmed from Febin’s disapproval of Thejus’s feelings for his elder sister, a bank employee in North Kerala.
According to eyewitnesses, the crime occurred around 7 PM. Thejus, disguising himself in a burka, approached Febin’s house. A young girl in the neighborhood noticed something unusual—despite the burka, the person was wearing men’s shoes. However, no suspicion was raised at the time. When Febin’s father, Gomez, answered the door, Thejus attacked him first before turning to Febin, stabbing him fatally in the chest. In a desperate attempt to escape, Febin ran out of the house but collapsed on the road. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The gruesome act has left the community in shock. Remya Vinod, a local panchayat member and ASHA worker, expressed disbelief over Thejus’s involvement, describing him as a quiet and well-behaved individual. Thejus belonged to a respected family—his father is a police officer, his mother a homemaker, and his elder brother an Irrigation Department employee. There were no prior reports of Thejus engaging in any trouble. Meanwhile, Febin’s family, devastated by the tragedy, includes his father, who works as a driver for a doctor at Benziger Hospital, and his sister, who is employed at Federal Bank in Kozhikode. The incident has sparked widespread grief and discussions on the tragic consequences of personal vendettas.
