Before the upcoming assembly elections in Jharkhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is launching a ‘Parivartan Yatra’ (Change Rally) aimed at rallying public support against the Hemant Soren government. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will kick off the campaign today, September 20, from Bhognadih in Sahibganj. This initiative will run from September 20 to October 3, as the BJP seeks to free the people of Jharkhand from what they describe as a corrupt and anti-people coalition government led by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress.
The BJP’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’ will consist of six rallies spread across various divisions of Jharkhand, covering a total distance of 5,400 kilometers and passing through all 81 assembly constituencies in 24 districts. The aim is to highlight the failures of the Hemant Soren government and connect directly with the electorate. The BJP has emphasized that this is not merely a political campaign but a commitment to meaningful change for the people of Jharkhand.
On social media, the BJP has accused the JMM-Congress government of making the people of Jharkhand suffer due to rampant corruption and exploitation of state resources. The party’s slogan, “Neither will we tolerate, nor remain silent, we will bring change,” reflects their resolve to challenge the status quo. They assert that a wave of change is resonating among the populace, who are urged to join the movement for a better future.
The BJP’s campaign focuses on several key issues, including the need to eradicate nepotism, particularly related to the Soren family’s long-standing influence in Jharkhand politics. They also accuse the current government of widespread corruption, pointing to various scams and negligence since Hemant Soren took office in 2019. Allegations range from the seizure of large sums of money from a government official to accusations of disproportionate assets against the Chief Minister himself.
Additionally, the BJP aims to advocate for the upliftment of tribal communities, which they claim have been neglected under Soren’s rule. They stress the importance of protecting Jharkhand’s cultural identity from what they perceive as harmful government policies. The party has also committed to addressing pressing issues such as unemployment, as Hemant Soren’s administration has not met its promise of creating 500,000 jobs, leaving many youths in the state struggling for work.
The ‘Parivartan Yatra’ represents a strategic effort by the BJP to strengthen its presence in Jharkhand.
