BMW has unveiled the 2025 M5 in India, marking a milestone with the sports sedan’s first-ever electrified powertrain. Priced at ₹1.9 Crore (ex-showroom), the seventh-generation M5 boasts groundbreaking performance and a refreshed design. Equipped with a 727 hp hybrid setup, it’s the most powerful M5 to date.
On the exterior, the new M5 features adaptive LED twin headlights, the iconic kidney grille adorned with the M5 badge, and redesigned body panels. The car’s carbon fibre roof, weighing 30 kg less than the panoramic sunroof version, lowers the centre of gravity for enhanced performance. Other design highlights include an M rear spoiler, twin exhaust outlets, and lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, luxury and functionality blend seamlessly. The three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel comes with red M1 and M2 buttons for custom configurations, while the optional M Drive Professional package adds a “Boost” button on the gear shifter. Premium features include ambient lighting, multifunctional seats with illuminated M5 logos, and a Bowers & Wilkins 18-speaker sound system.
Under the hood, the M5 houses a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivering 585 hp and 750 Nm of torque. Combined with a 145 kW electric motor, the total output reaches 727 hp and 1,000 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h, extendable to 305 km/h with the M Driver’s package. Powered by an 18.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, the sedan can achieve an electric-only range of up to 69 km (WLTP).
