Kalyani Priyadarshan’s superhero spectacle Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is set to telecast on its digital debut after an exceptional seven-week theatrical run. Directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, the visually striking Malayalam-language fantasy-action film released on August 28, 2025, and went on to become a milestone in Indian cinema. According to multiple reports, the film is expected to premiere on JioHotstar on October 20, though the makers have not yet made an official announcement.
The film grossed over ₹301 crore worldwide, becoming the first Malayalam movie to achieve this landmark and earning the rare distinction of being an “All-Time Blockbuster”. Out of the Rs 301 crore, Rs 155.25 crore net (Rs 182 crore gross) has come from India alone. In Kerala as well, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is the top-grossing film of all time and only the second in history to go past Rs 100 crore box office.
It has made Rs 120 crore at the Kerala box office, beating Thudarum’s Rs 118 crore biz. Lokah received widespread acclaim for its stunning visuals, detailed world-building, and deep mythological themes. The film’s success has been hailed as a turning point for Malayalam cinema, setting new benchmarks for both storytelling and technical brilliance. The movie also features Naslen, Santhy Balakrishnan, Tovino Thomas, Chandu Salim Kumar, Sandy and Nishanth Sagar.
