Top Banks Announce New FD Rates Effective April 16, 2025, with Attractive Returns for Senior Citizens

Several prominent Indian banks have recently revised their fixed deposit (FD) interest rates, with the updated rates taking effect from April 16, 2025. These revisions provide attractive investment opportunities for both general and senior citizen depositors, with some banks now offering returns as high as 7.95%.

AU Small Finance Bank has adjusted its interest rates on FDs below ₹3 crore, offering rates ranging from 3.75% to 7.75% for general citizens, depending on the tenure. For senior citizens, the rates are more lucrative, ranging from 4.25% to 8.25%. The highest return of 8.25% is provided for a tenure of 18 months. Notably, deposits held for durations between 12 to 24 months offer some of the most competitive rates.

IDFC FIRST Bank has also updated its rates, now offering between 3% and 7.5% for general customers and up to 8% for senior citizens. The maximum interest is applicable for FDs with a term of 400 to 500 days, making it a suitable choice for medium-term investors seeking high returns.

Bank of Maharashtra has introduced rates between 2.75% and 7.45% for the general public, with a special FD of 366 days yielding the highest rate. Senior citizens can earn up to 7.95%, making it one of the top options for older investors.

With multiple banks offering highly competitive interest rates, especially for senior citizens, this may be a good time for investors to consider locking in their savings in FDs to benefit from assured returns.
