Kochi: Actor Bala was arrested by the Kadavantra Police on Monday after his former wife filed a complaint accusing him of defaming her and their daughter on social media. The complaint, which includes allegations of stalking and harassment, led to his detention at his residence in Edappally in the early hours. Bala is currently being questioned at the Kadavantra Police Station and is expected to be presented in court later in the day. He has been booked under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
The actor’s former wife broke her silence following the arrest, revealing years of physical and emotional abuse. She stated that she endured the torment for the sake of their daughter, but was forced to leave when it became detrimental to the child. According to her, even after their divorce, Bala continued to harass them, particularly through social media, making their daily life difficult and impacting their daughter’s well-being.
She further claimed that Bala showed no interest in their daughter, failing to pay for an insurance policy promised in their divorce settlement. Additionally, she refuted his claims of financial embezzlement, insisting that the allegations made by Bala were fabricated. She also accused Bala of spreading misinformation through interviews and leaking private phone conversations to the media.
Bala, along with his manager, remains in custody as the investigation proceeds. There is a possibility the case will be transferred to Ernakulam South Police Station for further action.
