Many jobs that require long hours in front of computers can lead to various eye-related issues such as vision fatigue, dry eyes, headaches, and blurred vision. To prevent these problems from affecting your work, it’s essential to take short, regular breaks to relax your eyes. Alongside breaks, you can perform simple exercises to improve blood circulation, reduce strain, and cool down your eyes. Adjusting screen brightness, using anti-glare glasses, and scheduling annual eye check-ups are also recommended for maintaining good vision health.
20-20-20 Rule: Set reminders every 20 minutes to look away from the screen and focus on an object about 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This helps relax eye muscles, maintain moisture, and enhance visual comfort.
Visual Perception Exercise: Draw two identical figures on paper with a pencil between them. Focus on the pencil for a few seconds, then shift focus to the space between the figures. This exercise helps with visual perception and can be repeated comfortably.
Eye Rolls: Move your eyes in clockwise, anti-clockwise, and diagonal motions to improve blood circulation and relax eye muscles. Finish by covering your eyes with warm palms for further relaxation.
Deliberate Blinking: Blink frequently to keep your eyes moist and prevent dryness, especially during prolonged screen use.
Figure 8 Eye Rolls: Focus on a distant object and trace a figure 8 with your eyes. Repeat in both directions to stretch and relax the eye muscles.
