Toronto: A Delta Air Lines passenger jet met with a disastrous crash-landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, flipping upside down and injuring at least 15 people, including three in critical condition. According to reports from public broadcaster CBC, one of the critically injured individuals is a child. All injured passengers were swiftly transported to the hospital for treatment.
The aircraft, identified as Endeavor Flight 4819, was en route from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Toronto, Canada, when the accident occurred. The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) confirmed the incident via a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that emergency response teams had been deployed immediately and that all passengers and crew members had been accounted for.
Delta Air Lines acknowledged the incident, assuring that it was investigating the situation and would release further details once confirmed. Canada’s Federal Transport Minister, Anita Anand, revealed that the flight was carrying 80 passengers at the time of the crash. Meanwhile, Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed relief that there were no fatalities and assured that local authorities were working diligently to assist those affected.
The crash occurred as eastern Canada grappled with extreme weather conditions, including a massive snowstorm that had swept through the region on Sunday. Even on Monday, Toronto was experiencing strong winds and freezing temperatures, which may have played a role in the accident.
