
Kochi: Football fans in Kerala have reason to celebrate as the Argentina National Football Team, led by the legendary Lionel Messi, is scheduled to visit Kerala from October 25 to November 2, 2025. Confirming the news, Kerala Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman revealed that the visit would include a friendly match and Messi’s participation in a public event. The football icon will spend seven days in the state, with a 20-minute appearance planned at a high-profile event.
Minister Abdurahiman highlighted that this historic visit follows his recent discussions with Argentina’s representatives during a trip to Spain. The Kerala government extended an invitation to the reigning world champions to play a friendly match in India as part of its broader initiatives to promote sports and enhance the state’s sports economy.
Over the past six months, Kerala has taken significant strides in advancing its sports sector. The state’s first-ever sports conclave, held recently, attracted private investments exceeding ₹5,000 crores, with several projects already underway. The friendly match will be conducted under government supervision, with financial support from the local trade community, ensuring an inclusive and grand event.
