Josephine Jose, a 46-year-old former college teacher from Thrissur, embarked on an incredible solo road trip across India that spanned 70 days and covered a total of 14,277 kilometers. The trip, which took her through 19 states and three union territories, included reaching Umling La, the world’s highest motorable road at 19,024 feet. This remarkable adventure began on October 2, with Josephine navigating diverse landscapes and taking in the beauty of India.
Josephine’s adventurous spirit was fueled by her previous experiences in Ladakh, where she had traveled by both bike and car. After a long career in customer service management, she returned home to care for her mother, which inspired her to set out on this journey. Throughout her trip, Josephine drove tirelessly, sometimes covering up to 750 kilometers in a single day, always adhering to a disciplined schedule that saw her start her drives at 5:00 am and finish by 5:00 pm.
Despite the challenges, including a frightening encounter with bikers in Odisha, Josephine remained unshaken and used her pepper spray and a wooden stick to protect herself. Her journey highlights the power of determination, courage, and the love for exploration, showcasing how solo female travelers can push boundaries and explore the world with resilience and strength.
