Kollam: Kerala Health Minister Veena George was admitted to the Kottarakkara Government Taluk Hospital on Thursday evening after she complained of uneasiness, reportedly due to high blood pressure.
The minister experienced discomfort while travelling from Kottayam to Thiruvananthapuram. She was promptly taken to the hospital, where she received medical attention, including an intravenous (IV) drip. Hospital sources have indicated that she is stable and expected to be discharged soon.
Her hospitalisation comes at a politically sensitive moment, as opposition parties step up their demands for her resignation following a tragic incident at Kottayam Medical College Hospital earlier the same day.
A section of a 68-year-old building at the hospital collapsed on Thursday morning, killing a woman and injuring three others. The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with the Youth Congress and Youth League leading protests across the state, accusing the health ministry of negligence and calling for Veena George to step down.
