The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the Class 10 and Class 12 exam results for the 2025 session between May 11 and May 15. While the exact date and time have not been officially confirmed, previous trends and board hints suggest a mid-May release window. Once the results are announced, students can access them through the official CBSE websites—cbse.gov.in, cbseresults.nic.in, and results.cbse.nic.in.
This year, over 42 lakh students took part in the exams, which were held from February 15 to April 4, 2025. The Class 10 exams concluded on March 18, and the Class 12 exams ended on April 4. To check their results, students will need their roll number, admit card number, school code, and date of birth.
In a major shift for the 2024-25 academic year, CBSE has adopted a Relative Grading system, replacing the previous fixed score-based grading approach. This system will award grades based on a student’s performance relative to their peers, with varying cut-offs for different subjects. The goal is to alleviate academic pressure and curb unhealthy competition among students.
Students can also access their marksheets on platforms like the DigiLocker app (digilocker.gov.in), the UMANG app, and by using an SMS service. For Class 10 results, students should text “cbse10 <roll number>” to 7738299899. For Class 12, the message should be “cbse12 <roll number> <school no> <centre no>.”
CBSE will not release a merit or topper list for either Class 10 or Class 12, continuing a policy introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce performance-related stress. After the results are announced, students will have the opportunity to apply for revaluation, rechecking, and photocopies of their answer sheets. Additionally, grace marks may be awarded to students who narrowly miss the passing criteria.
Students are encouraged to rely only on official CBSE notifications and to avoid false result alerts circulating on social media. Physical mark sheets and certificates will be distributed by schools at a later date.
