The SSLC and Plus Two examinations in Kerala conclude today, marking the beginning of the summer vacation for students. This year’s exams were largely free of major controversies, except for a few typos in question papers and isolated clashes between students. In light of past incidents, the Department of General Education has issued strict instructions to schools to prevent excessive celebrations that could lead to conflicts.
The Class 10 public exam will officially wrap up with the Biology paper in the morning, while the final Plus Two exam is scheduled for the afternoon. A total of 4,25,861 students appeared for the SSLC examination across 2,964 centers in the state. With the conclusion of these exams, students will commence their summer break.
To ensure safety, headmasters have been instructed to seek police assistance if students attempt to engage in reckless celebrations. The authorities have made it clear that public demonstrations using vehicles will not be permitted under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, the Plus Two Improvement exams and Plus One exams are set to conclude on March 29. Additionally, students in classes one to nine will finish their exams by March 27, while the VHSE section exams will also conclude on March 29.
Despite the generally smooth conduct of exams, there were reports of minor disputes between students in some areas. In Malappuram, a shopkeeper lodged a complaint after students repeatedly visited his shop to take printouts of materials for unauthorized copying. However, apart from these incidents, this year’s public examinations proceeded without significant controversy.
