The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has begun the recruitment process for 170 Assistant Commandant posts for its 01/2027 batch, offering vacancies in the General Duty (GD) and Technical branches. The application process started on 8 July 2025 and will remain open till 23 July 2025 through the official portal: joinindiancoastguard.cdac.in.
Vacancy Details:
General Duty (GD): 140 posts and Technical (Engineering/Electrical/Electronics): 30 posts
Eligibility Criteria:
1. General Duty (GD): Age: 21–25 years (5-year relaxation for serving Coast Guard or equivalent personnel in the Army/Navy/Air Force). Qualification: Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to Class 12
2. Technical Branch: Age: 21–25 years (with relaxation for serving personnel). Qualification: Engineering degree in recognised disciplines such as Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, Production, Metallurgy, Design, Aeronautical, or Aerospace. AMIE qualifications recognised by the Institution of Engineers (India) are also valid.

Selection procedure: The recruitment process includes five stages:
- Written examination
- Preliminary Selection Board (Cognitive Battery Test, Picture Perception & Discussion Test
- Final Selection Board (Psychological tests, group tasks, interview)
- Medical examination
- Final joining as Assistant Commandant
Pay Scale:
- Assistant Commandant: ₹56,100
- Deputy Commandant: ₹67,700
- Commandant (Junior Grade): ₹78,800
- Commandant: ₹1,23,100
