Calicut University has announced the postponement of all examinations scheduled for July 30, 2024, following orders from the Vice Chancellor. This decision comes amid severe weather conditions impacting Kerala, including a massive landslide in Wayanad.
The landslide, which struck Mundakkai around 2 a.m. with a second occurrence at 4:10 a.m., has caused extensive damage in the region, affecting areas such as Vythiri, Vellarimala, and Meppadi. The ongoing heavy rains have exacerbated the situation, leading to further complications in rescue operations as roads, including the one from Chooralmala to Mundakkai, have been washed away.
In response to the severe weather, District Collectors from seven districts—Kottayam, Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Palakkad, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Thrissur—have declared a holiday for schools and other educational institutions on Tuesday. The university has also cancelled its valuation camps due to the adverse conditions.
