Global Disruptions as Microsoft Users Report ‘Blue Screen of Death’; Banking and Flight Services Impacted

The outage in Microsoft’s cloud services has caused widespread disruptions across various sectors worldwide, impacting airlines, banks, and other essential services. In India, the outage affected ATMs and airline operations at major airports in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, leading to long queues and delays.

Microsoft Windows users encountered ‘Blue Screen of Death’ errors, with many turning to social media platform X to report the issue. The outage also affected commercial establishments globally, including airline operations in the US, where flight services were suspended. The situation was particularly severe in Australia, disrupting domestic and international flights, banks, supermarkets, and telecommunications.

New Zealand experienced similar disruptions, impacting the functioning of its Parliament. The London Stock Exchange was also affected, and British news channel Sky News went off air for nearly three hours. Rail transport in Britain and flight services at Berlin and Amsterdam airports in Europe were similarly impacted.

In India, the outage disrupted the operations of airlines such as IndiGo, Akasa Air, SpiceJet, and Air India Express. SpiceJet reported technical challenges with its service provider, affecting online services like booking, check-in, and managing bookings.
