New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their warm greetings to the people of India on the occasion of Vijayadashami. The festival, also known as Dussehra, marks the triumph of good over evil and is celebrated across the country with great enthusiasm.

In her message on X (formerly Twitter), President Murmu expressed her heartfelt wishes, describing Vijayadashami as a festival symbolizing the victory of justice over injustice. She emphasized the values of truth and morality, urging people to stand by justice even in challenging situations. She further wished happiness and prosperity for all, hoping the festival would lead the nation on the path of continuous development.

Prime Minister Modi, in his message, extended his best wishes to the countrymen, invoking the blessings of Maa Durga and Lord Ram. He wished success for all in every aspect of life and expressed his hope for peace and prosperity.

Both leaders will be attending the Dussehra celebrations organized by the Shri Dharmik Leela Committee at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. This year marks the 101st anniversary of the event. With the Prime Minister’s presence, security has been intensified by the Special Protection Group (SPG). The celebrations will feature a Ravana effigy, standing 70 feet tall, as part of the traditional festivities.

Vijayadashami, observed on the tenth day of the Hindu month of Ashvin, also marks the beginning of Diwali preparations, celebrated twenty days after Dussehra. The festival holds cultural and religious significance across India, particularly associated with Lord Ram’s defeat of Ravana.
