Apple is set to introduce its first custom Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, internally codenamed “Proxima,” in its HomePod mini and Apple TV devices launching in 2025. This move is part of Apple’s broader strategy to reduce reliance on third-party suppliers and achieve greater silicon independence. Manufactured by TSMC, the Proxima chip will support Wi-Fi 6E, delivering improved bandwidth and faster data speeds for a more seamless user experience.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Proxima chip represents a significant milestone for Apple, providing tighter integration and enhanced efficiency for its home devices.
