The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) in Faridabad, Haryana, invites applications for its MS-PhD Programme in Biotechnology 2025. This prestigious programme is designed for graduates from diverse backgrounds in Science, Engineering, or Medicine who are keen to advance their knowledge and research skills in biotechnology and life sciences.
Programme Structure & Curriculum
The MS-PhD course follows a structured curriculum with a two-year Master’s phase followed by a PhD research phase:

In the first two semesters, students engage in intensive coursework, covering core concepts in biotechnology through classroom lectures and practical laboratory training.

From the third semester onwards, students begin working on research projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor, culminating in a Master’s dissertation at the end of the second year.

Based on performance, students may continue their PhD research in the same laboratory, or they can opt to exit the programme with a Master’s degree upon successful completion of coursework and dissertation requirements.
The entire MS-PhD programme is expected to take five to seven years and is governed by the RCB academic regulations.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or Medicine with a minimum aggregate score of:

60% marks (or equivalent GPA) for general candidates.

55% marks for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (NCL), and PwD categories.

Final-year students can also apply, provided they submit proof of qualification during admission.
Admission is based on the Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) score, followed by an interview to assess research potential and academic aptitude. The programme will admit up to 20 students, with reservations as per government norms.
Financial Support & Hostel Facilities

Fellowship: Selected students will receive the RCB-Ramachandran Fellowship of ₹16,000 per month for the first two years. After this period, Indian students must qualify for CSIR, ICMR, DBT, or other research fellowships to continue receiving funding.

Accommodation: On-campus hostel facilities are available on a shared basis for students at a prescribed fee.
