Tragedy at Adimalathura Beach: PG Student Drowns, Another Missing

Strong Waves Sweep Away Two Students in Thiruvananthapuram; Rescue Efforts Underway

A tragic incident occurred at Adimalathura beach in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday when two postgraduate students were swept away by strong waves. Jeevan, a resident of Venganoor, lost his life, while Parthasarathy from Pattoor remains missing. Both were first-year PG students at Kanjiramkulam Government College. The students had gone for a swim when they were caught in powerful currents. Local fishermen managed to rescue some students and rushed them to the hospital, but unfortunately, Jeevan could not be saved.

Following the incident, search operations are underway to locate Parthasarathy, with the help of coastal police and local fishermen. Authorities are using boats and other rescue equipment to comb the area, but rough sea conditions have made the task challenging. This incident has raised concerns about beach safety in Kerala, with experts emphasizing the need for warning signs, lifeguards, and awareness campaigns to prevent such tragedies in the future.

The drowning has left the college community and the victims’ families in deep sorrow. Friends and classmates are in shock, remembering Jeevan as a bright and cheerful student. Meanwhile, authorities are urging the public to exercise extreme caution while swimming in unmonitored waters, especially in areas known for strong currents and unpredictable tides. Rescue teams continue their efforts, hoping to find Parthasarathy as soon as possible.
