The Shoranur-Kannur train service has been extended for an additional three months to alleviate overcrowding. According to the latest railway order, the service will now run until October 31. Originally scheduled from July 2 to July 31, the Shoranur-Kannur train (06031) will continue operations until October 30, while the Kannur-Shoranur train (06032) will extend to October 31. The operational days will remain the same: the train to Kannur will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and the train to Shoranur will operate on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Additionally, a new stop at Payyoli has been added to the route. Requests to extend the service to six days a week and to include Kasaragod have not been addressed, despite appeals from MPs Rajmohan Unnithan and Dr. V. Sivadasan to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav.
