Businessman Boby Chemmanur to Face Court Over Today Sexual Harassment Allegations by Honey Rose

Boby Chemmanur claims remarks were based on mythology as court hearing and investigation deepen

Prominent businessman Boby Chemmanur is set to appear in court on Thursday following his arrest by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in a sexual harassment case filed by Malayalam actor Honey Rose. The actor accused Chemmanur of making “sexually coloured” remarks about her on multiple platforms, leading to charges under Section 75(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act. These non-bailable charges have put Chemmanur’s bail application under scrutiny.

Chemmanur, arrested in Wayanad on Wednesday morning, was taken into custody after police intercepted his car at a tea estate. He was later transported to Kochi, where his arrest was formally recorded at the Central Police Station. During questioning, Chemmanur denied any wrongdoing, claiming that his comments were misunderstood and were rooted in references to mythology. He emphasized that he had no malicious intent and suggested that the controversy arose from a misinterpretation of his statements.

The SIT has requested Honey Rose’s confidential statement and may file additional charges after reviewing it. Honey Rose initially raised concerns on social media, alleging stalking and inappropriate remarks, later identifying Chemmanur as the accused. She expressed gratitude to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the state police for their swift response and support, which provided her and her family reassurance amidst the controversy.
