Indian badminton sensation Lakshya Sen has made history by advancing to the semi-finals of the men’s singles event at the Paris Olympics. On Friday, Sen secured his place in the semi-finals with a hard-fought 19-21, 21-15, 21-12 victory over Taiwan’s Chou Tien Chen.
Sen, the only Indian shuttler remaining in the competition, faced a tough start, losing the first game as Chen initially took a 5-2 lead and later a 14-9 advantage. Despite a strong comeback by Sen to lead 17-15, Chen clinched the game 21-19. In the second game, Sen surged ahead after a close start, breaking a 13-13 tie with a decisive five-point run to win 21-15.
The decider saw Sen dominate from the outset, taking a 9-4 lead and maintaining control to win 21-12, securing his spot in the semi-finals. Sen will now face the winner of the match between top seed Viktor Axelsen of Denmark and Loh Kean Yew of Singapore.
