Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Tamil Nadu, has invited applications for selection and appointment to the post of Information Technology Officer/GIS Expert at Environmental Information, Awareness Capacity Building and Livelihood Programme (EIACP) PC-Hub, Department of Environment and Climate Change, Nandanam, Chennai. Applicant’s age limit is 30 years.

Roles and responsibilities of the information technology officer/GIS expert:

1. Data Management & compilation
2. Reporting & dash-boarding
3. Database design & management
4. Performance monitoring
5. High-level analytics
6. Capacity building
7. Website and database maintenance
8. IT Management, etc. He/she will also support organising and managing mega- or regional events and other activities under the Mission LiFE and SAP initiatives.

Eligibility: Applicant should hold a PG Diploma in (RS/GIS) with at least 1 year’s experience/be a graduate with good knowledge of computer technology (website development, designing, internet, publication, etc.) with two years’ experience. (Reputed university)

The duration of the assignment shall be initially for 1 year from the date of award of the assignment and may be extended based on performance. What is EIACP PC HUB?
EIACP PC HUB is a decentralised system with a network of distributed subject-oriented Centres ensuring integration of national efforts in environmental information collection, collation, storage, retrieval and dissemination to all concerned. Presently, the EIACP PC HUB network consists of the Focal Point at the Ministry of Environment and Forest and EIACP Centres set up in different organisations/ establishments in the country in selected areas of environment. These Centres have been set up in the areas of pollution control, toxic chemicals, central and offshore ecology, environmentally sound and appropriate technology, bio-degradation of wastes and environment management, etc.
