In a strategic move to attract more international tourists, China has introduced a visa-free entry policy for citizens from nine countries. Starting November 8, travelers from these nations can visit China for up to 15 days without the need for a visa. This visa-free entry is available for purposes such as tourism, business, family visits, and transit, making it more accessible for short-term travelers. The eligible countries include South Korea, Norway, Finland, Slovakia, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, and Liechtenstein.
China’s tourism statistics reflect the significance of this policy change. Recent reports indicate that 8.186 million foreign visitors arrived in China, marking a remarkable 48.8% increase from the same time frame in the previous year. The expansion of visa-free travel aims to build on this momentum, following the success of existing programs through which approximately 4.9 million visitors have already entered China visa-free.
Additional measures are also being implemented to enhance the travel experience for foreigners. These initiatives include reducing wait times at entry checkpoints and allowing the use of international bank cards for convenient payment of subway fares, thus simplifying urban transportation. China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently reiterated its commitment to continuously improving travel policies to encourage foreign visitors. This optimized approach aims to create a smoother travel experience, making China an even more appealing destination for global tourists.
