Fans of the highly anticipated sequel Kalki 2 will have to wait a little longer, as Deepika Padukone has chosen to prioritize her role as a mother over her work commitments. Originally scheduled for filming in the summer of 2025, the production of Kalki 2 has been postponed to accommodate Deepika’s focus on her newborn daughter, Dua.
At a recent private event in Mumbai, Deepika and her husband Ranveer Singh introduced their baby girl, Dua, to the media for the first time. When asked about her plans for Kalki 2, Deepika made it clear that her family comes first. “Dua is my top priority,” she said, adding, “I will raise my daughter myself, just like my mom raised me. I’m not in a rush to get back to work or leave her with a nanny.”
Deepika and Ranveer welcomed their daughter, Dua Padukone Singh, on September 8, 2024, and revealed her name in November. The name “Dua” carries a meaningful significance, symbolizing blessings and goodwill.
While Kalki 2898 AD released earlier in June 2024 to immense success, with critical acclaim and a global box office of over Rs 1,000 crore, Deepika is taking a step back to focus on her motherhood journey. Her commitment to her family is a testament to her belief in work-life balance and personal priorities.
